Tampa Spring Adoption Expo - Tampa, FL - 04/24/10

Special Events Center - Florida State Fairgrounds
Sponsored by the ASPCA, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay
and No More Homeless Pets – Hillsborough County

The setting was for a battle of the Parrotheads vs the Chinese as we decorated our booth at the Tampa Adopt-A-Thon. It was Jimmy Buffet weekend at the Tampa Fairgrounds so traffic was heavy driving into the event. But FSPR stayed true to their heritage and decorated with our Chinese décor. Jeanette and Pat had help from Kashmere and Minka and their 2 legged siblings getting set-up. Michelle brought darling Dixie who was a perfect angel throughout the day. Christine brought Jasmine for a short time to show her off. And it was a big day for Lucy Lu as she met her new daddy. Candace drove her all the way from the east coast to for her big adoption day. We met some great prospective families and hope to be hearing from them soon. Thank you everyone for your time and effort and also to the ASPCA Humane Society of Tampa Bay both for the invitation and to their great volunteers who constantly came by to see if we needed anything!

"MUTT-STRUT" Honeymoon Island - Dunedin, FL - 03/20/10

The FIRST day of Spring was the ideal day for a great dog event at the beautiful Honeymoon Island State Park in Dunedin. Being a dog friendly park, there were as many dogs attending the event as there were people. About 40 vendors were there for the benefit of the Pinellas County Humane Society including FSPR. Baloo was the FSPR mascot and adoptable dog in attendance and his friendliness amazed everyone. He enjoyed all the head rubs and especially enjoyed the children who petted him. Little Fiona stopped by with her foster family to wow the spectators and this little princess enjoyed playing with a few puppies who came by. It was a great social events for both volunteers and pei-bies.

We met some super people, including Candace and her husband, and Michele. The dogs were all wonderful, and great advocates for the breed. There will be another event here in September, so please mark your calendars.

"Central Florida Adoption Day" - The Villages, FL - 12/12/09

The World’s Friendliest Retirement Village went to the dogs Saturday as 12 rescue groups gathered at the Buffalo Ridge Animal Hospital to show off their adoptable dogs. In addition to our great volunteers, Sue & Dave, Linda & her family, Jeanette and Mojo and Susan and her family, we had terrific help from our local sponsor and mom to FSPR rescue pup Sadie, Joan Kolins, who owns the pet boutique, Paws for a Moment. She was on hand to help with questions on natural food and treats and was seen crawling around the x-pen with the pup-peis. Nala and Taffy and Lissie were there looking for their new homes. We had some interest in them and also sold some items. All in all, it was another beautiful day at The Villages and FSPR wants to thank Ann for inviting us.

It was another successful event for FSPR. 2 of our wrinklies found their forever homes and another application just came in a week later. We had a great turnout of volunteers and sold calendars, t-shirts and handmade collars. Overall, there were more than 250 dogs adopted out and over 50 vendors and rescues in attendance. We appreciate being able to participate and enjoy meeting and seeing all the FSPR volunteers. See you in April!

A great time was had by all. We had attendance by many supporters and several adoptive families. Information was given out. The dogs did great in the breed ring. Linda's twin grandchildren could'nt wait to participate. We had Gail's champion girl Charro. Minka, Taffy, Sasha, Lilly, and Nala, who were champions in their own right. Nala never stopped smiling. Our friends KC and Gary came, with the famous Tango and Cash. Julie and Rich attended, and adopted their girl Sasha. Special thanks to Jeanette, Liz and Christine for all your support. You guys rock. We were all tired but happy, at the end of the day. Can't wait for next year.
